What is a soul?
Augustine (354-430), a major influencer of Christians at that time, said a soul “a special substance, endowed with reason, adapted to rule the body”. The Catholic Church believes that the soul “refers to the innermost aspect of [persons], and that the ‘soul’ signifies the spiritual principle in [humanity]” (see Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraph 363).

Protestants are spilt, some believe the soul acts a consciousness after death, while other feel that the soul dies when the body does and will not come back to life until the resurrection of the dead. Judaism embraces the soul at the time of one’s death, and conversely, Scientologist do not believe that people have souls.
As for me, I think at the exact moment when your body dies, your soul, the true essence of your being, will leave your body and ascends to the heavens where it will reside with God.
The video above is actual footage of the moment when life ends and the soul is set free.
