We lead a simple, drama-free life in Crazyville. Earlier this week my husband was in Houston, Amazing Ann showed off her perfect spelling test, Wild Regan tore her favorite leggings and Revin Roger cried over his preschool craft. A typical week at our house – except for the spelling test. Wild Regan’s leggings were her favorite so I tossed them when she went to sleep. I fear what her teacher thought of our clothing budget.

Unlike world events, nothing exciting happened in our lives. On Tuesday morning, we visited my cousin and her two children. Revin Roger and Wild Regan were thrilled to have a playdate with her kids. For a hour we shared stories about a family wedding, swapped potty training tips, fauned over her newborn and shared a few secrets. My favorite part was when she said “I can tell you this, you can keep a secret.” Last year, I was the first to guess she was pregnant because she asked for a decaf tea.

There are twenty years between the two of us. Since our kids are close in age we swap clothes and parenting woes. Surprisingly, our age difference had no bearing. The bond of motherhood and common values made us good friends. We joke we need an excuse to drink coffee together when the kids are all in school.

After the playdate my kids ate lunch in the car so Wild Regan could catch the kindergarden bus. A great way to spend a typical Tuesday morning.
